So, this is awkward. But my little sister has always been painfully shy. Shes a very pretty young lady. But her experience with guys is zero.
My parents used to wonder if she ‘liked’ guys especially after I came out as a lesbian. But I’m her older sister and I know she’s talked to me about some of the ‘books’ she’s read. So she’s definitely into guys. She’s just shy.
Well when she graduated High school, she didn’t want to go to college. So I asked my best friend from high school, we’ll call him John (32M) to see if he could recommend her for a basic job at his company.
He said that wasn’t a problem but that it wouldn’t be anything ‘fun’
Which was fine, she just needed a job to help her get started.
Now, these two are COMPLETE opposites.
John is an army veteran who used to jump out of helicopters and practices martial arts.
Stephanie is a painfully shy girl who used to love Ballet and anime.
Well, John promised to look after her and show her the ropes. And eventually she started coming out of her shell more. Which was good! He was a positive influence on her.
But then one day a few years later, she wants to talk to me about something.
And to make a long story short, she’s developed a MASSIVE crush on John.
And now I’m worried because yes John is single.
But hes also told me about how he sees her as a little sister vs a romantic interest.
Plus John doesn’t like dating anyone who was born after 1999 because in his words ‘Age gap is too big and he would feel old’
I feel bad because he’s a great guy and I love the fact my little sister has a crush…..the problem is its also awkward because there is no way John will go for it. Not because she isn’t attractive but because I don’t think he could get over the fact hes 12 years older than her.
Me personally, I find the situation adorable, and would love him as a brother in law. But I’m worried I have to tell my sister to leave it alone since it could end up going badly because they do work together.
Now I did change the names obviously.
But I have VERY mixed opinions on it.
On one hand, John is my best friend and he would be a great brother in law and would be what my sister needs.
But on the other hand, I’m worried my sister because she’s never dated anyone has a ‘schoolgirl’ crush
And of course I want to be the overprotective big sister and protect her from any and all possible love interests
I don’t know what to do, because I don’t want to giver her any advice on the situation.
