Pastor Emmanuel Iren has made a bold claim about what people do behind closed doors, and a video of his message is now circulating online.
In the clip, he says half of regular churchgoers watch pornography at least once every two weeks. He did not mention any study or source for the figure. He then asked the congregation to look at the people sitting next to them, suggesting one of them could be struggling with the habit.
Iren blamed the internet for making private behaviour easier to hide. According to him, the anonymity it offers has led to a rise in immorality.
He also painted a picture of a city where the only screen was inside a church. In that case, he said, people would stop right away because others would be watching.
The pastor said secrecy is what gives sin its strength, not the struggle itself. He advised people to seek accountability and to take a hard look at the parts of their lives they keep hidden.
“Even if you have not sinned yet, if there are aspects of your life that you can do in the dark, you have created an environment for sin,” he said.
