Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has paid an emotional tribute to Lionel Messi as the Argentina captain brings his international career to a close.
She shared the message on Instagram, writing, “I honestly don’t know how to say goodbye to you, Leo!”
Still, she found some comfort in knowing that Messi will continue playing club football for now.
Jombo said fans watched Messi grow, celebrate victories and suffer painful defeats. She spoke about the pressure he carried for Argentina before finally lifting the World Cup, and said she will always remember the “little moments.”
For her, the farewell is about more than football. She sees it as the end of a chapter that shaped a whole generation of fans.
The actress also thanked Messi for teaching fans about resilience, describing his journey as one of getting back up after setbacks. She celebrated his rise from a boy in Rosario to a global legend.
She also wrote, “Thank you for making football feel like art.”
Messi was scheduled to play his last match for Argentina on Tuesday, October 6, in a farewell friendly against Benin at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
