What kind of mindset is common to every successful person?

They all have a growth mindset.

Successful people understand that success first happens in the mind before it manifests in physical reality. Successful people know that “as a man thinks, so is he”. They know that thoughts become actions, actions become habits, and habits shape our lives.

As a result, they focus on cultivating the right mindset that enables them to be successful.

In her book, “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success”, Professor Carol Dweck highlights two different mindsets that either make or break us; fixed mindset and growth mindset.

How are they different?

  • The fixed mindset believes that skills and talents are endowed – you either have it or you don’t.
The growth mindset understands that you can grow and improve at anything by consistently showing up and engaging in practical application.
  • The fixed mindset resists new challenges and prefers to stick to what is familiar, mostly for fear of failure.
Growth mindset embraces challenges and sees failure as an opportunity to learn something new.
  • Fixed mindset seeks validation from others and is offended by negative feedback.
Growth mindset welcomes constructive criticism and focuses on getting better based on feedback from others.

The fixed mindset never amounts to success. Success belongs to those with the growth mindset.

The big question now is, what mindset do you have?
