What if you could create something once and sell it many times?
You don’t need a physical shop.
You don’t need to keep products in your room.
And you don’t need to spend thousands of cedis or naira to begin.
You can sell digital products using just your phone and the internet.
What Can You Sell?
A digital product is something people can buy and receive online.
For example:
- E-books
- CV templates
- Business plans
- Study notes
- Canva templates
- Social media post templates
- Fitness guides
- Relationship guides
- Budget planners
- Phone wallpapers
- Online courses
You can even create a simple guide that solves a problem people have.
For example, if you know how to create a good CV, you could make a “How to Write a Job-Winning CV” guide and sell it.
You Don’t Have to Be an Expert
You don’t need to know everything.
Start with something you already understand.
Are you good at cooking? Create a recipe book.
Good at fashion? Create a style guide.
Good at Canva? Sell templates.
Good at studying? Create study materials.
Good at social media? Create a guide for small businesses.
The trick is simple:
Find a problem and create something that helps solve it.
Where Can You Sell?
You can promote your products through WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, Telegram, or your own website.
You can also use digital-product platforms such as Gumroad and Payhip, depending on whether their current payment options work for you.
For Ghana and Nigeria, always check the platform’s current payment and withdrawal options before building your business around it.
Start Small
Don’t spend weeks trying to create a huge course.
Start with something simple.
Create a useful 10–20 page guide.
Make it look clean.
Give it a clear price.
Then tell people about it.
If 10 people buy a GH₵30 product, that’s GH₵300.
If 100 people buy it, that’s GH₵3,000.
For a ₦5,000 product, 100 sales would be ₦500,000.
Of course, getting those sales is the hard part. You need a useful product and an audience that trusts you.
The Best Part?
You create the product once and can potentially sell it again and again.
That is why digital products can be an interesting online business for young people in Ghana and Nigeria.
You don’t need to wait for someone to give you a job.
Learn a skill. Turn the skill into something useful. Put it online. Find people who need it.
Your phone can be more than a place to watch other people’s success.
It can also be the tool you use to build yours.
